Pedorthic Assessment

Our assessments always begin with a detailed history of how your pains are affecting you. We believe that understanding your experience and rehabilitation goals from your perspective is the foundation we need to get you feeling better.

From there we assess your posture, ranges of motion of the feet, gait mechanics and any other tests we think might be important to your case. All assessment findings, including gait analysis, are explained to you in a way that you can understand.

In the same way that we believe an understanding of your experience is our foundation to get you better, we believe that becoming educated on your case is the foundation you need to help yourself get better.

We then work together with you to come up with a treatment solution that is both supported by our findings, and works for you.

An assessment usually runs between 45-60 minutes. We recommend wearing something that can allow us to see below the knee, and ask that you bring a sample of the shoes you normally wear so we can assess your wear patterns over time. Plan to take your socks off and move around; bring your questions and get ready to learn about your feet!

3D Gait analysis

The Stride Clinic is the only true gait lab north of Toronto.

A 3D Gait assessment starts with a brief history taking and assessment of range of motion/posture of the feet.

We then place small reflective markers on your lower limbs, which the infrared cameras use to measure the three-dimensional positions of the body throughout the study. This allows the software to accurately calculate the movements of the ankle, knee, hip and pelvis as you walk and/or run.

This state-of-the-art technology was developed at the University of Calgary and uses data from thousands of participants around the world to compare your data to normal. Your data is then anonymized and fed into the database to help contribute to further research.

Whether you’re a runner recovering from injury, an athlete looking to step up performance, or an average Jo starting an exercise program, the 3D Gait system is an excellent tool to objectively and accurately assess your gait patterns so you can train safer and smarter.
